VQ3007 Modify: Adding a Slide Switch

Everybody knows all the digital lomo toy cameras(genie III/VQ1005/VQ3007 etc) are battery monsters, they can drain your new batteries so quick that you cannot imagine, so I am going to add a switch to turn off the camera completely when not taking pictures in order to save some power. There are numerous ways to save power comsumption of this little beast, my goal is to do it in a convenience and good-looking way.

1. Actually any switch tiny enough to fit inside the camera body is ok, but I prefer this tiny little slide switch. The old fashion looking of it just match the toy like camera.
2. You need to be well planned ahead before smashing your camera into some trash. You need to find a place big enough to hold the switch, and I will place mine next to the right-bottom conner of the lens. After some serious measurement and when you make sure there will be no problem, we can start drilling the hole for the switch.
3. Cut one of the wires of the battery compartment, connect the slide switch in series, place the slide switch at the desire location.
4. checking the position from outside.
5. After testing with the new circuit, Use some hot-melt adhesive to hold the position of the switch. Make 100% sure you can switch ON / OFF the camera properly with the switch, and you can take picture properly with the camera, before you apply the hot-melt adhesive.
6. Adding a homemade ON / OFF sticker
